Personal back round
Dana J. Quigley is a Boston, MA based mustachioed professional photographer. He styles himself as a life-learner and became addicted to photography for its inherent variety of styles, subjects, and spaces. Currently, Dana adheres to three simple and clunky mantras: Do work. Make art. Be better. These six words define his identity as a photographer, forcing him to ever-balance the business with the craft. Dana attended Hamilton College on a full-tuition, merit based Posse Foundation leadership scholarship. spent time before launching his solo-career helping other photographers on shoots for Timberland, Bose, Lexus, L.L. Bean, New Balance, and more. typically works in the Boston and greater Boston area, though he is available for travel.
Style
Dana's style is very childish. That's one of the reasons that I chose him as my photographer. His style is also serious in a way. I think what dana is trying to say in his art in that he is serious when he needs to be serious. I also thing he says that he's still a kid at heart and that will never change.
Influences
Dana has influenced and still does with his toy and nature photos. He has also influenced me with his photos that nat all things have to be as serous as people portray them to be. I think that Dana is one of my biggest influences in this class. Dana has also influenced my photograph skills with is candy photography. Dana has had a great impact on me.
Compare and Contrast
The first image of his was a monster truck and so was mine but mine was indoors and his was out side. His first image also looks like it had a better focal point than mine. The second image of mine was a Lightning McQueen and so was mine but mine was in light as his was in the dark with a reflection and mine doesn't have a reflection. The third one was the one I think that I replicated best because its practically the same accept he used a king sized and I used a super sized sharpie.
Artist's Statement
I took the photos that I took because those things I have had for a long time and I had no use for them until now. The lighting McQueen is special to me because i used to play with it all the time and watch the Cars movie all the time. The monster truck is special to me because I used to watch Maters Tall Tales on Netflix and that story where they were monster trucks was my favorite story. The sharpie is important because i just use it a lot for pointless things. If I didn't have the sharpie I would be really board all of the time.
